The SoiWISE method: document your achievements to prove your worth
In short
The SoiWISE method consists of documenting your professional achievements in their context, then drawing out their value and the skills they demonstrate, with evidence, for every key career moment.
The SoiWISE method
Value isn't claimed. It's proven.

Principles
- The achievement is the unit of value, not the job. A title and an employer say where you were; only the achievement says what you did.
- Context makes the result credible. A number without its conditions is a claim, not evidence.
- Document ahead of time, not at the last minute, when memory fails.
- Each moment calls for its own evidence. A performance review, a job interview and a career change don't ask for the same thing.
- Your words, never an invented achievement. The method structures and clarifies what you have described; it adds no facts.
It all starts with an achievement
The achievement is the method's main input: it's where you start, and everything else builds on it. SoiWISE then lets you place it within a broader picture.
What anchors your achievements
- Professional portrait — who you are professionally: title, background, expertise, education.
- Clarified aspirations — what you're aiming for, and in what environment.
- AI Portfolio (optional) — how you use artificial intelligence.
What SoiWISE draws from them
- Demonstrated skills — what your achievements prove, not what you claim.
- Enriched CV — a CV backed by documented facts.
- Strategic Guide — a plan tailored to the key moment you are living, grounded in your portrait, achievements and aspirations.
The steps below detail the starting point: how to document an achievement so it becomes evidence.
Step 1 — Document an achievement in five fields
- Context — in two or three sentences: the organization, the mandate, the starting situation.
- Your exact role — not your title: what you decided, and what others did.
- What pushed back — what didn't work, and why.
- The outcome and how it was established — where the number comes from matters as much as the number.
- In hindsight — what you would do differently.
Fields 2 and 3 make the difference. Your exact role separates your contribution from the team's. What pushed back shows how hard it was, and that is what a machine cannot invent for you: the texture of a lived situation.
Full example (fictional)
- Context: Three warehouses had just been merged and their inventory counts did not match.
- Your exact role: I set the restocking priorities; data entry stayed with the warehouse leads.
- What pushed back: Two of the three leads kept to their own counting method and did not follow for the first few weeks.
- The outcome and how it was established: Inventory discrepancies fell below 2%, according to accounting's quarterly report.
- In hindsight: I would have brought the three leads together before announcing the new method, not after.
Step 2 — Have the achievement examined
Once the five fields are filled in, SoiWISE asks you three to five questions, the ones an attentive decision-maker would ask. How was the result measured? What is yours personally? What was the starting point? Over what time frame? These questions are not a verdict: they show where your account is solid and where it still needs work. This review is free, without an account, on the public diagnostic page, which does not keep your text.
Step 3 — Draw out demonstrated skills
From your achievements and the review of each position, SoiWISE draws out the skills your writing actually demonstrates. Each one comes with the excerpt that proves it. These are not declared skills: they are skills backed by what you wrote.
Step 4 — Prepare for the key moment
The same career is not presented the same way at every moment. SoiWISE distinguishes three families of key moments:
- Take stock: annual performance review, promotion request or role change, discussion with your manager. This calls for clarity, then selection and precision.
- Seize an opportunity: job interview, strategic exchange with a recruiter. This calls for speed, with evidence already at hand.
- Shift your trajectory: career pivot (sector or profession). This calls for translation: reframing what you have achieved for a field that doesn't know its codes.
For each moment, SoiWISE produces a strategic guide grounded in your achievements.
Common mistakes
- Starting with the job title rather than with what was accomplished.
- Giving a number without saying where it comes from.
- Writing "we" when you mean your own contribution, or "I" for a team's work.
- Leaving out what pushed back, when that is what makes the result credible.
- Waiting for the key moment to piece everything together.
- Using the same document for every moment.
Frequently asked questions
How do you structure a professional achievement?
In five parts: the context, your exact role, what pushed back, the outcome with its source, and what you would do differently in hindsight.
How does the SoiWISE method differ from the STAR method?
The STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) is useful for structuring an interview answer. The SoiWISE method extends it on four points: it separates your role from others', it asks what pushed back, it requires the source of the result, and it adds hindsight. These are precisely the elements a recruiter tries to verify.
What if I don't have numbers?
A result can be established other than by a number: a decision made thanks to your work, a practice adopted by others, written feedback. What matters is saying how the result was observed.
Does SoiWISE write my achievements for me?
No. SoiWISE never writes an achievement you haven't described. Your words, better phrased — not ours.
Do I have to pay to use the method?
No. The method itself is free: this page describes it in full. In SoiWISE, the diagnostic of an achievement is free without an account, and the first four pillars are free. Demonstrated skills and the strategic guide are Premium.
Who designed the method
The SoiWISE method was designed by an enterprise architect, Denis Bellerose, then refined in dialogue with two seasoned human resources and recruitment specialists. Every question, every deliverable was tested before reaching your hands. Read the manifesto · About SoiWISE · Try the achievement diagnostic
